Mount Rainier barely showed her face for us-  and somehow, that made the entire day even better.
Jordan and Dalton flew in from the Midwest to get married in Mount Rainier National Park, choosing the PNW for its quiet, grounding energy and the kind of nature that makes you slow down without even trying. Their day was simple in the best way -  intentional, peaceful, and deeply connected to the landscape around them.
They got ready in the coziest A-frame cabin tucked away in Packwood, right outside the park. The morning felt unhurried: soft laughter, coffee brewing, family moving around calmly, and the wind tapping against the windows. It was the perfect setup for a nature-driven PNW elopement, surrounded by evergreens and the low hum of the forest.
Their first look happened at a nearby lake. Jordan twirled in her lace gown, Dalton’s face lit up the second he saw her, and the two of them fell into this quiet little world of their own. Moody weather or not, the moment was magic.
From there, we headed into the national park — winding roads, towering pines, and patches of stubborn June snow that refused to melt. Even with the fog swallowing the skyline, the atmosphere was unreal. That’s the thing about Mount Rainier elopements: you don’t rely on views. You rely on mood. And the mood was everything.
Their ceremony took place at Reflection Lake, surrounded by still water, mist, and their closest friends and family. No elaborate setup. No distractions. Just vows floating through cold air, hands held tight, and a small circle of people who adore them. It felt intimate and grounding, like the park itself was invited.
After saying goodbye to their people, we spent the rest of the evening exploring the park-  finding pockets of light, embracing the fog, and letting the environment shape the photos. Rainier teased us with small glances of the peak, but honestly? The moody atmosphere was doing all the heavy lifting. Snow fields, alpine trees, thick clouds- it all felt straight out of a movie.
And then, the finale.
As the sky shifted, the fog cracked open just enough to reveal one of the most gorgeous pink PNW sunsets I’ve ever seen. We pulled out lanterns, turned on the car headlights, and Jordan and Dalton danced in the glow — silhouettes wrapped in warm light, dress catching the wind, smoke curling around them. It was one of those “this doesn’t even feel real” moments.
Their Mount Rainier wedding wasn’t about chasing a perfect view.
It was about intention.
Slowness.
Presence.
And creating a day that felt exactly like them.
Rainier showed up in her own moody, iconic, unforgettable way — and honestly, I wouldn’t have wanted it any different.

A MOODY MT RAINIER ELOPEMENT

ELOPEMENT

A review from the couple:

I can’t express how incredible and talented Katelyn was as our photographer for our destination elopement at Mt. Rainier. She was essential in the planning process — we found our dream ceremony spot at Reflection Lakes because of her.
From the moment she arrived at our Airbnb, she felt instantly warm and welcoming, like someone who had been part of the family for years. None of us had ever taken professional photos before, and she made everyone feel so comfortable and at ease.
Her approach was the perfect mix of laid-back and confidently decisive, which helped the entire day flow seamlessly. When clouds and fog covered our planned photo locations, she adapted immediately and found stunning alternative spots without missing a beat.
Our day was truly everything we hoped for and more, and we owe so much of that to Katelyn. She made our elopement feel effortless, meaningful, and unforgettable.
